Of Course! LAMPsig Classes

LAMPsig members have established a series of free courses on different facets in LAMP development. Past classes have focused on general PHP scripting, OOP in PHP5, and MySQL. The topics, times, instructors vary so if please join our announcement mailing list (a very low volume list) to receive notices of new classes forming.

Courses at LAMPsig in the discussion stages:

Classes and class topics are suggested by our members. If you like to contribute by either organizing or teaching a LAMPsig course, feel free to suggest a topic to the planning list or contact Jim Workman.

Two classes are in the discussion stage, 1) an advanced PHP class, and 2) an intensive on the CMS Joomla/Mambo.

Joomla! is a fork of Mambo and is a powerful Open Source Content Management System. It is used all over the world for everything from simple websites to complex corporate applications. Joomla! is easy to install, simple to manage, and reliable.

Past courses given at LAMPsig:

1. MySQL Class Sequel: All Together Now, a Workshop: July/August, 2005

   This was a workshop format class with the goal of learning by doing. Brief introductions followed by "now you do it" exercises. The instructor will give individual help and share answers to the most common questions.



2. MySQL: 2005
   Organizer, Sharon Lake
   
   This 8 week class was held during May and June, 2005 as part of the LAMPsig free ‘Of Course’ offerings. This course was organized to introduce the basic MySQL knowledge needed to pass the MySQL Core Certification Exam. The MySQL Core Certification Exam covers the knowledge needed to maintain a basic MySQL installation and use MySQL as a backend database for applications.
